All countries say about their neighbours that they are dangerous but... when it’s inhabitants say this you must believe it! This fact puts you on your guard.
We are welcomed in this country by being stopped for breaking bread on the road at the end of a village and a motorcycle man came to warn us to not remain there. We therefore opted for safety, always sleeping in places with a guard (restaurants, camping on the ground of the hotel...) first night was a real ordeal. The view was magnificent but had KINGS MOSQUITOS. It would have worked to go immediately in the tent but it was really too hot... perfect combo for a sleepless night.
The menu is a little different to the eternal chicken and tacos found in neighbouring countries. Seafood’s really cheap. For just $4 you can eat more at our end in small restaurant perched on the miradors. Restaurant La Perlita has been conquered.
The road that runs along the coast is superb, large offering of impressive miradors valleys. The color of the Pacific here... turquoise. The mixture strong waves give with black, beautiful sand. This route segment is more enjoyable asphalt without imperfection and benefit from the more than 3 foot wide shoulder. These are only some small up and downs because they had the intelligence of dynamiting holes into the mountains of seaside. Some are rather long, a notice to the people who are afraid of the dark! When we leave the sea one must face up to the mountains of El Salvador. They don’t seem scary but we go rather high.
There are not a lot of places to enjoy the beach. Certain facilities were beautiful but... these are only some ruins now. Another small point, don’t think to swim; there are waves for surfers, much too strong for swimmers!

Back to El Salvador not two times the same mistake, left the pan - am for the road that is less central. First someone doesn’t recommend us to pass by this way because there is only sugar cane and corn fields and on the other the view road is really beautiful. We found rather ordinary landscape and mountains rather large so we opted for ease. In any event doing twice the same road...
